Mauritius to Become Major Tech Hub

Mauritius is set to make big waves in tech by creating a new ‘Smart Cities’ initiative that will target around 100,000 new direct and indirect jobs within five years, with 15,000 of them in Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

By granting licenses to developers, the Government is building not just a space for innovative clusters of commerce but also an area to live and play. By targeting foreign investment with economic perks and favorable tax conditions, the Mauritian Government aims to make a step change in opening up Mauritius to new enterprise and the world of cutting-edge Mauritian ideas

The island, which is getting a reputation for innovation, is set to become a major technology hub with the development of 10 smart cities where IT startups will work alongside global IT giants such as Cisco, Huawei, and AliBaba.com.
